James Nutting is a Freelance Animator, Director and Artist. As a graduate of the University of Newport, in 'Animation Direction and Production', James is competent in a variety of skills relating to Animated Film Production, Art and Design.

James has gained broad industry experience since 2014, working in Digital 2D, Stop-Motion, Claymation, Paper Cut-Out, Pixilation and even animating Rangoli art! His personal focus is on traditionally hand-drawn character animation; using pencils and paper. Having such a passion and enthusiasm for this traditional technique, James has been approached by various Directors to bring his distinctive animation style to their film productions.

James specifically focuses on character performance and dynamism within the animated form. He has been praised for his competence in broad gesture and smooth/fluid animated movement, strong understanding of characterisation and performance, as well as his confident ability to accurately portray a likeness for portraiture, figure-drawing, character design and caricature.

James is currently working on 'Marmalade is Missing', a passion project that has been in development with Winding Snake Productions and Amy Morris since 2016. 'Marmalade is Missing' explores and showcases all of the aspects of film, art and animation that James is so passionate about.
